Dear Asher,
You are TWO! I know
you are expecting me to say wow I can’t believe you are two. When did that happen? But honestly you feel so TWO to me. I’m giving myself a 30 minute deadline to
write this so I can’t think about it too much because seriously given unlimited
time these letters take me DAYS. But what
do I want remember about TWO year old Asher.
I want to remember how:
You talk so well that it shocks everyone. You talk like you are three and it takes me
by surprise at times. So often I look at
you and say out loud “Did you really just say that?”
Happy you are ALL the time.
Unless you are tired, sick, or hungry, you are never unhappy.
Always smiling and laughing and just forever
my sonshine.
You will eat anything at least once. And unfortunately you got my sweet tooth so
that has to be kept under control.
You will out of nowhere bust into being a robot, or a frog,
or into literal dancing, or a jumping cow, or anything totally hilarious and
random. There is rarely a dull moment.
You need me to fall asleep.
You jump on into bed and say “Blanket mom” (meaning get under the
blanket mom) and then you drank your bottle and hand it to me and then say “Hugs
mom” and I hug you till you fall asleep.
It is one of the sweetest things in the world and I will continue to do
it until you kick me out.
Incredibly smart you are.
Oh my god you know so much. Body
parts. Every single animal on a farm and in the forest and probably the tundra
too. TV characters. People in pictures. Names of buildings and cars and trucks and
colors and numbers and everything in between.
With very little assistance you can do 25 piece puzzles and help your
sister play computer games. You can put
on your own boots and know the order of how we put on clothes. And just so much more than I can possible think
of right now.
You pucker up and kiss me and Dad goodbye but only after you
say “One kiss”
You run to the door when you hear Dad is home.
You wake me up every single day with “Mom? (Yes Asher.)
Cow. Horse. Sheep. Thomas. Come
on Mom. Watch Thomas” Then we get up and watch the same exact
Thomas that we watch every single morning for at least the last month.
How big into Thomas you are these days. You know how to turn the train on and put
them on the track now.
Farm animals are still your main interest. You LOVE them. Take them with us when we leave and talk
about them all the time. If you decide
to be a for reals farmer when you go up that will sincerely not shock me at
all.
Incredibly fearless you are.
Common for this age but still. No
fear at all especially when jumping from high places.
Adorable it is to watch you and Dad play. You just can not get enough of all the crazy
extremely stereotypical BOY games that you guys play. From dolls, I mean action figures, to
dinosaur to whatever that - make weird sounds and run around game you guys play
is - you just can not get enough of them.
There is this face that you make that can only be described as pure joy
during these games and that’s why I look the other way when you guys play
them. You dudes are loud.
Much you love your sister.
You miss her when she’s at school and you get so excited to go and get
her. You ask for her and want to be near
her. You have this way of making her be
silly and make her laugh by doing ridiculous things and that is one my favorites
about you.
You randomly walk into the room and say “HI Mom or Hi Dad”
in this redneck twang that I have no clue where it came from but I love it. And
you do it all day long. Like if I’m in
the kitchen doing dishes, you may come in there and say “HI Mom” like 4 times
in the time it takes me to finish.
Easily you hug and kiss and snuggle on the couch.
You say “Luv You”
Every time we get into the car you tell me we are going to
Grandma’s house or Aria’s School. Those
are the only two places that exist.
You ALWAYS take off your boots in the car and then say “OH
NO my boots fall”. Annoying as hell but
cute as hell when I turn around and see your little smirk and Aria is almost
crying she thinks it’s so funny.
You play with the older kids when we get Aria. You just jump right in and run after them and
they all love you.
You dance to any beat while declaring “I dancing” and for
that matter any movement is usually followed by your declaring what you are
doing “I running” “I spin”
Much joy you bring into our lives. You really are my sonshine and even on the
days when I slept 4 hours or I’m having a grumpy day, it is literally
impossible to stay upset with you around.
I’m working on getting your first year blog book all
together so I can print it and I look at pictures of you like yesterday and
then compare them with that extremely chubby baby of two years ago and part of
me is extremely sad because my little tiny baby is growing up and part of me is
so excited to see what you will do next.
Not one single day goes by where I don’t look at your precious
face and am overcome with how immensely lucky I am to have you. I love you so much.
