Remember when you would fall asleep anywhere?

So I officially went back to school tonight and in doing so I left you with Dad.  I was VERY nervous because that's what I do.  Dad made me feel much better throughout the night with a lot of updates and status reports.  He tried to rock you and let you lay on the couch and watch as much tv as you wanted and he was sure you would fall asleep.  Now secretly, I knew you wouldn't fall asleep.  Between Dad and I, there is a lot of stubbornness that was passed down so I just knew you wouldn't actually sleep on the couch.  But he made sure you didn't cry at all so I'm extremely happy with the outcome.  As soon as I came home, you were asleep in (literally) 5 minutes and all was well with the world.

Dad Post

Dear Little Dude,
You comprehend so much these days.  The other day I was taking a shower only to realize your mother had hidden the body wash…on top of the toilet!!!  And who came to my rescue?  At first you just wanted to get into things.  But, after I asked you to get the soap and told you where it was, you quickly brought it to me and said “thank you” (you don’t know you’re welcome yet).   Today, when it was time for bed, your mother asked you to give Aria a goodnight hug.  You actually walked over and hugged her.  Then, after forgetting for a second, you came back into the room unprompted and blew a kiss to your sister.  Your mother gushed about how “cute” you are.  I did the dad thing and just smiled proudly.

North Park Nature Center

On the docket today was the North Park Nature Center.  When we first got there, we saw this deer.  We slowly approached it and you both were so psyched to see an animal up close.  It was so friendly that it was at one point seriously 2 feet away and walking towards us.  It was creepy and I promptly put you and your sister in the stroller and briskly walked away.

Creepy, right?
The bees were a hit!

When we got into the actual nature center, it took you literally two minutes to find some friends. Their names were Sophia and Grace and they were, for obvious reasons, smitten with you. Their mom couldn't believe that you were only 19 months old. "You've got quite the charmer". Yes, we do random mom. Yes, we do.

Documenting, of course

There was this wall full of pictures that all the kids drew and I found this one quite interesting.  What's up with the random egg baby on the ground next to grandma?

This giant pine cone was a hit.
So was a turtle shell but I couldn't take a picture because every time I went to pull out the phone, you attempted to eat it.

My two little Indians.  Get it. Teepee.  Indians....

August 11, 2012

Today was one of those days that you were so perfect that I just wanted to squeeze you all day long.  We went to the zoo where you got this sweet frog tattoo.

You are totally in a frog phase so it was one of the highlights of your day.  ALL DAY long you kept on pointing to your arm and saying "Frog.  Mama frog."  Ridiculously cute.

You took this picture.

Look at your perfect face in the third picture!  I can't take the cuteness in that picture.

And on top of your cuteness, it was so awesome how interested in the animals you were.  You LOVE animals so it isn't a huge surprise but I wasn't expecting such an attention span.  You were totally into really seeing and examining all the animals.

You were so stoked to see that frog and you kept pointing to it and saying, "Frog" and the second picture is a turtle.  I'm pretty sure you and your sister were waiting for that turtle to move so when it finally did (surprisingly fast) you guys were pretty stoked.

We are going to go back next week and see the farm animals.  I know you would love to see a cow, neigh, and bunnies.

After a THREE hour nap (you have not taken a three hour nap since you were a tiny baby), we went to get sandwiches and you kept making this adorable face:

When we were leaving, this catchy song started to play and there you were dancing in the middle of the restaurant.  So cute!

You loved the holding of the coins when we were making wishes in the fountain and you were majorly stoked about your dog balloon - even though it looked NOTHING like a dog.

That dog by the way lasted about 2 minutes till you made him into a snake and then completely popped him.

Once we got to the park, you, of course, were running EVERYWHERE and doing EVERYTHING.  You made a few temporary friends and attempted your usual tactic of attempting to touch every surface before we go.

You do all this, as always, with an adorable smile on your face.  And as we walked back to the car, you wanted, "Up mama Up" and you snuggled with me.  As already independent as you are and with your sister going all independent on me, the snuggles made me feel better tonight.

So I guess, you both can keep growing up if I'm guaranteed snuggles at the end of the day.  If you must that is...

The Exploritorium!

Our trip to THE EXPLORITORIUM was absolutely one of those days where the fact that you are getting so BIG was slapping me in the face.  You just GO GO GO wherever we go.  There was only one way out of the place and I still had a few moments where I, in a panic, yelled to your Dad, "OMG where's Asher?".  You are quick, man.  You were still too little to tackle the tubes with your sister so you stayed with me and mostly played with the trains (HUGE hit) and the water table.  You, of course, did your fair share of documenting.  But unfortunately, it was fast approaching your nap time so about the last half hour I mostly held you and when I did try to stretch out the fun, you weren't having it (notice the in the bubble picture above) and then as soon as you hit the car, you were out.  How fun is it going to be when all four of us can go up into the tubes?  Can't wait.
