Sibling fun

Daddy Post

Little-Man,
For starters, let me say welcome to the family and I hope you've enjoyed your first month with us (I know your big sister has). Actually i think she is becoming more accustomed to you being around. At least she...tolerates you being here. There is a certain sense of completion now that you are here. Not that things were imperfect before you were born (your sister is totally going to use this against me when she is sixteen) just that it is nice having a boy and a girl.
I must say this first month has been a bit hectic getting acclimated to the changes. I can't count the number of times your mother called me home for "lunch" just so I could watch you while she put Aria to sleep. The next hurdle was us getting you to sleep for the night while getting your sister ready for bed. Follow that up with us waking up and trading positions in the middle of the night to put her back to sleep while at the same time making sure you are not fussing. It has been an interesting juggling act to say the least. But, I think we are getting used to it...I think.
So I'm trying to come up with a more original nickname for you and so far I've got Imperial Probe Droid or IPD for short. It's due to all the little grunts and growl sounds you make when you want something. Not sure if we will stick with that but it's something for now. This all just reminds me that I have to sit down and outline the schedule for watching the saga starting this month.
Well, I can't wait to see what new excitement you will bring to our lives next month and for the years to come. Welcome aboard IPD...Little-Dude...Ash...meh, I'll think of something.

Love,

Dad

Dear Asher,
You are ONE month old! This simply does not seem possible. One very short month ago, I kept myself up at night worrying that my intense indescribable love for your sister would shadow my love for you. And boy is my face red. Ever since the moment that the nurse brought you into the room and put you in my arms, I have been possessed by an intense indescribable love for YOU. There are so many nights were I stay up (and sleep in scarce and sacred these days) and just stare at how gorgeous you are. Those first few weeks I just couldn’t get over how small you were. But don’t worry – small is not the word for you anymore. You have gained 4 pounds 12ozs these past four weeks. And you have sadly lost all your little baby fuzz so you kind of resemble Elmer Fudd at the moment. Google him… (If there even is a google, when you read this).
At this moment in time, you basically do normal baby things. Eat, poop, sleep. Repeat. You have an hour here or there that you are awake and looking around, but for the most part, you sleep. Oh and you make all these cute little R2-D2 noises. I would do a like and dislike list, but you don’t really have any dislikes at the moment other than the swaddle. You like to be free to move little man. That is what we are calling you at the moment – little man.
I love you more words can begin to express.
Mommy
